About Us
The Foundation for Medical Care of Kern County is a third party insurance administrator (TPA) which has been in business since in business for over 25 years. Services offered by the Foundation include claims processing, customer service, utilization review, and quality assurance for fully insured, self-funded or partially self-funded employer sponsored medical and dental plans.
Additionally, the Foundation maintains several medical and ancillary provider panels, in Kern and Santa Barbara Counties, which include:
- PPO Medical Network – Kern and Santa Barbara Counties
- California Statewide PPO Dental Network
- Workers Compensation Medical Network – Kern and Santa Barbara Counties
HealthEdge Administrators offers web-based access for clients. These services include, enrollments, ID cards, claim and EOB information, all provided 24/7.
These networks can be used statewide in conjunction with the California Foundation for Medical Care (CFMC) medical network which represents over 34,000 physicians, 400 hospitals and 5,000 ancillary providers.
One of the larger clients the Foundation currently services is a group of school districts with 22,000 members in Kern and Santa Barbara Counties. The claims department processes an average 70,000 claims per month and is supported by a customer service call center with an average of 10,000 telephone calls per month.
In February 2005, HealthEdge Administrators was incorporated for the purpose of marketing third party insurance Administrator (TPA) services. HealthEdge is wholly owned by the Foundation for Medical Care of Kern County. HealthEdge will be providing the same services provided under the Foundation name for self-funded and partially self-funded medical, dental and vision plans in the state of California and beyond.
HealthEdge Administrators is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Foundation for Medical Care of Kern and Santa Barbara Counties. Established in 1959, the Foundation represents one of the largest PPO Networks in California and Administers Self-Funded Medical and Dental Plans for Employers, Counties and Government Entities. HealthEdge Administrators provides service within the state of California.
